Ferguson Police officer is allegedly shot in the arm… immediate manhunt commences.

Innocent black boy killed in cold blood, and his murderer is safely escorted out of the state.

You're so cool:)

Thank you :-) I’m sure you’re pretty cool too!

How do you feel/what do you think about "white guilt"?

White guilt doesn’t help anyone that is marginalized because of their race or ethnicity. White guilt makes racism about white people… and that doesn’t help any of those marginalized people.

White guilt is white people wearing and hashtagging I am Trayvon Martin and I am Mike Brown, but not doing anything to ensure those innocent, young, black lives are never robbed of again. We are not Trayvon. We are not Mike. We never will be. And we shouldn’t try, because it’s insulting and dismissive to years of systematic oppression and violence.

Acknowledging our white privilege is crucial. Using that white privilege for good - to support marginalized voices and actions, is crucial. Carrying white guilt is useless.

This is Sam Pepper. If you don’t know who he is, Sam is a successful YouTube prankster with over 2 million subscribers. He recently uploaded a video titled “Fake Hand Ass Pink Prank" where he pinched unsuspecting girls’ butts without their permission. None of this was done with the girls’ consent…meaning Sam Pepper sexually harassed and assaulted these women.

This is no longer a “simple, harmless prank” but rather a very serious matter and offence. If you haven’t seen the video yet, you can watch, dislike, and report it HERE. You can also take the pledge to help stop sexual violence at itsonus.org. Please do not let Sam get away with this kind of behavior. He crossed the line and needs to be held responsible for his disgusting actions.

I would literally punch him and I wouldn’t stop

As a massive and fervent Mindy Kaling and Mindy Project fan I have to say I was disappointed in the elder rape joke-which was made like three times in two different scenes. I actually just got done discussing this type of writing/acting with a friend the other night because this is done so frequently it's become ingrained in TV/Film writing- whether the creative control is held by a male or female it doesn't matter because it's everywhere. The best we can do as fans is call them out for it.

TW: Rape

Oh yeah, I heard the words “elder rape” in the episode too, but wasn’t paying as close attention because I was multi-tasking, but I didn’t want to go back just in case it was a joke.

I know they had the date rape thing in one of the James Franco episodes.

And they had a roofie/date rape joke in the first (?) episode as well.

The “just lie there and take it” line really stuck out for me though for obvious reasons…

I don’t know how these things made it into the episodes, but I do agree that it’s important to not brush under the rug. xx

Rape Joke or Coincidental Ignorance?

TW: Rape

I know The Mindy Project has callously and casually grazed over the subject of rape jokes 2 times (that I can remember).

In this week’s episode, Mindy finds Danny’s mom on the floor with a popped out hip. His mom wants to lay there until I’t finds it was back again”. Mindy pretends to concede as she backs away, then lunges towards her.

Danny’s mom yells: “Your hand is on my pubis!”.

To which Mindy replies: “Just lie there it’ll be over soon”.

Is this the third casual rape joke, or just a real coincidental ignorance?

About the Sam Pepper situation, the video actually got taken down. A lot of really big YouTubers started the hashtag #ReportSamPepper and the video got deleted! But he's now trying to back pedal and say it was just a social experiment. He uploaded a video where the genders were switched, like that's going to make it all ok??? He's a piece of shit and I'm so glad things are being done about him.

That’s really great to here that the community took action. And somebody needs to tell him that terrible guys already used the “social experiment” excuse - remember the guy who went around startling women and trying to give them massages? Ugh.

The only guy who did “social experiment” justice was the guy with the booty who put on yoga pants and was bending over places strategically so guys would think he was a woman, dudes would catcall, then he’s sheepishly be like ummm were you hitting on me? Opposite of ugh, indeed. :-)

When someone makes the decision to confide in you that they have been abused, that doesn’t give you the right to ask them “what kind” - as in, I’ll only empathize if the abuse is “bad enough”.

All abuse is bad enough.
